The World’s Most Romantic Travel Destinations

For those wanting an alternative to Paris…

Florence, Italy.

Florence has all the beautiful architecture, food and history of Paris, without the dense tourist population and ‘overdone’ feel. It’s straight out a Shakespearean romance!

For tropical love-birds…

Koh Rong, Cambodia.

Koh Rong is considered one of the most ‘instagrammable’ places on Earth (I can attest to that), despite being completely secluded! With your main choice of accommodation being a private villa, this place really is an escape like no other, and includes beauties such as white sandy beaches and waterfalls in rainforests. This is far from an ordinary island.

For those in favour of a winter romance….

Saalbach, Austria.

Also a secluded destination, Saalbach is tucked away and picture-perfect… but with white snow instead of white sand. It’s exactly like what the words ‘winter wonderland’ bring to mind. Get yourself a log cabin and be swept up in the magic of this little town.

For lovers of luxury…

  • In a cold climate:

Whistler, Canada. A short drive from Vancouver, Whistler has the best the country has to offer in five-star hotels, five-star dining and first-class skiing. While this trip is not for the budget traveller, your winter indulgence will be at its finest here.

  • Of the tropical kind:

Ubud, Bali. If you’re booking a no-expense-spared type of holiday, Ubud can offer you your wildest dreams come true. Rainforest retreats with beautiful spa baths, breakfast buffets brought to your bed and views of paradise as far as you can see.

For the partying duo…

  • If bar-hopping is how you roll:

London, UK. Home to every kind of adorable bar you can imagine! Bars themed around different countries, different spirits, books, movies; whatever you love, there’s a bar for that! Try Cross Keys for that quintessential English vibe, or Duke’s Bar for a James Bond feels! Doodles bar showcases some classic quirk, as the walls are drawable chalkboards!

  • If multi-story all-night clubs get you feeling all loved-up:

Munich, Germany. A little left-of-field as a party spot, but don’t mistake its romantic charm: think multi-story all-night clubs with headline acts, lots of confetti and cheap shots! This is the perfect place to party until the sun comes up!

If you’re more of a festival pair…

Byron Bay, Australia.

For Splendour in the Grass of course! I’m a little biased since this is my favourite festival, but it really doesn’t get any better than listening to your favourite acts on the grass with wine by day, and dancing like lunatics covered in glitter all night!

For the couple who want a once-in-a-lifetime experience…

Edinburgh, UK.

At New Years. Ever heard of Hogmanay? It doesn’t get more uniquely romantic than parading the streets of this historic city with huge fire sticks. Then, the next night, dance away to traditional bands on every street corner!

For the adrenaline junkies…

Western Australia.

Think the world’s best scuba diving, sky diving, cliff jumping, dune buggy-ing, surfing, sailing, jet-skiing, mountain-climbing madness! Any adventure you’ve always wanted to try – Western Australia can offer it to you on a massive scale. Between Ningaloo Reef, Broome and the Kimberley – you’re covered.
